Weekly Yoga Classes at Studio in the Woods are offered in exchange
for a variety of suggested donations: $10-$15 per class, garden
fruits and veggies, vegan foods or work trades. These classes are
drop-in. Always check the schedule or send an inquiry to make sure
class is happening if you are not on the mailing list. It's always a good
idea to check the calendar.
The Roll Retreat
A two-hour guided head-to-feet treat of self-massage with small, pliable rubber balls (and a larger, softer ball for more tender areas) in a cozy woodland studio. From the moment your head and neck are held on the soft, squishy support and the gentle, meditative music begins, you are drawn deeply inward to rest and release tension. You will learn-by doing-techniques to ease muscular aches and pains, release myofascial tension, increase mobility, enhance self-awareness and breathe more deeply. You will learn to roll and massage neck and shoulders, back, hips, belly, arms and legs, and feet. You will learn techniques lying on the floor on yoga mats and thick, cozy blankets, standing at the wall and, briefly, sitting in a chair. You will learn how and when you can apply these techniques in your daily life and may purchase the inexpensive massage-therapy balls to take home if you choose. If the weather is welcoming, come early or stay late to walk on the raked woodland trails or to sit by the pond and garden in the sun.
